Boho Bedroom Ideas + Free Boho Art Prints
I have such a soft spot for boho bedrooms. There is just something about the mix of textures, the slightly undone feel, and the way everything looks collected instead of perfectly matched. It feels lived in, warm, and creative in a way that invites you to slow down and actually enjoy your space. If you’ve ever wanted your bedroom to feel more like a cozy retreat instead of just a place to sleep, boho style might be exactly what you’re looking for.
When I think about boho design, I don’t think about rules. I think about layers, personality, and comfort. It’s one of the few styles where “a little bit of everything” actually works beautifully together. So if you’re someone who loves soft blankets, natural materials, plants, and pieces that feel meaningful, you’re going to love this.
Let me walk you through some of my favorite boho bedroom ideas that you can actually use, whether you’re starting from scratch or just want to add a few cozy touches.

Free Boho Art Prints
I wanted to include something really special with this post, so I created a set of printable boho art pieces for you to download and use in your own space. These are the exact kinds of soft, earthy, slightly whimsical pieces I personally love decorating with, and they fit so naturally into a cozy boho bedroom.
Each piece was drawn by hand on my iPad by me, Nell Marie of Home on Hayden. I leaned into warm neutrals, soft florals, and simple line work so they would feel calming and easy to style in just about any room. There’s a little bit of everything here, from a soft cactus piece to minimal florals and warm, earthy abstract lines.
The prints come in both 8×10 and 11×14 inch sizes, which are some of my favorite sizes for framing. I love using 8×10 for gallery walls or smaller spaces like nightstands and shelves, and 11×14 makes such a pretty statement piece on its own. When you download your files, the size will be clearly labeled in the file name, so just make sure you’re printing the one that matches the frame you plan to use.
If you’re printing from home, I always recommend using good quality cardstock and making sure your printer settings are set to the highest quality for the best results. If you’d rather have them professionally printed, you can upload the JPG files to your favorite print lab and they’ll handle it beautifully.
These are completely free for personal use, so you can print them for your bedroom, your home office, or even gift them to a friend. I just ask that they’re not resold or redistributed.
There is something really meaningful to me about sharing art that I created by hand. No AI was used in the making of these pieces, just me, my iPad, and a lot of love for cozy, creative spaces. I hope when you hang them up, they bring a little bit of that calm, warm feeling into your home.
Start with a soft, neutral base
I always like to begin with a calm foundation. Think whites, creams, warm beiges, and soft earth tones. This doesn’t mean your room has to be boring at all. It just gives you a peaceful backdrop so all the textures and accents can really shine. I’ve found that when the base is neutral, it feels easier to layer in different pieces without things looking too busy.
Layer your bedding like you mean it
Boho style is all about layering, and the bed is the perfect place to go all in. I love mixing different textures like cotton sheets, a chunky knit blanket, a lightweight quilt, and maybe even a linen duvet. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns either. Stripes, subtle florals, and geometric prints can all work together when the colors feel cohesive.
And pillows. So many pillows. I usually go for a mix of sizes and textures like tasseled covers, embroidered designs, and soft velvets. It instantly makes the bed feel inviting and relaxed.
Bring in natural materials
Wood, rattan, wicker, and jute are all staples in a boho bedroom. I love adding a rattan headboard or a wooden bench at the end of the bed. Even something simple like a woven basket can make a big difference.
These natural elements add warmth in a way that painted furniture just can’t. It helps the space feel grounded and connected to nature, which is a huge part of the boho vibe.
Add a cozy area rug or two
If there’s one thing I almost never skip, it’s a rug. Or honestly, multiple rugs. Layering rugs is such an easy way to create that collected boho look. I like pairing a larger neutral rug with a smaller patterned one on top.
Look for rugs with faded patterns, tribal designs, or warm earthy tones. It adds depth to the room and makes everything feel softer underfoot.
Use soft, warm lighting
Lighting can completely change the feel of a room. I always lean toward warm, soft lighting in a boho bedroom. Think table lamps with fabric shades, string lights, or even a soft glow from a salt lamp.
I try to avoid harsh overhead lighting whenever possible. Instead, I like having a few different light sources around the room so I can create that cozy, relaxed atmosphere, especially in the evenings.
Incorporate plants everywhere you can
If there is one thing that instantly makes a bedroom feel more boho, it’s plants. I love mixing different sizes and types. A tall plant in the corner, a few smaller ones on a dresser, and maybe a hanging plant near the window.
If you’re not great with real plants, faux ones have come a long way and still give that same look. The goal is just to bring in that natural, fresh feeling.
Hang textured wall decor
Boho walls are never boring. One of my favorite ways to decorate is with macrame wall hangings, woven art, or even a simple tapestry. These pieces add texture and interest without feeling heavy.
You can also mix in framed art, but I like to keep it a little relaxed. Not everything has to be perfectly lined up. A slightly casual gallery wall can feel more in line with the boho style.
Mix and match furniture
This is where the fun really begins. Boho style is not about buying a matching bedroom set. I actually avoid that completely. Instead, I like mixing different pieces that feel like they’ve been collected over time.
Maybe a vintage dresser paired with a modern bed frame, or a thrifted nightstand next to something newer. It creates that layered, lived in feel that makes the room more interesting.
Add a canopy or draped fabric
There is something so dreamy about a canopy bed or even just draped fabric over the bed. It softens the space and adds a romantic touch.
You don’t need anything complicated. Even a simple piece of gauzy fabric hung from the ceiling can create that cozy, tucked in feeling.
Use baskets for both storage and decor
I love using baskets in a boho bedroom. They are practical and beautiful at the same time. You can use them to store extra blankets, pillows, or even laundry.
I like mixing different shapes and weaves to add more texture. It keeps things organized without losing that relaxed, natural look.
Play with patterns in a relaxed way
Patterns are definitely part of the boho look, but I try not to overthink it. The key is to keep the colors somewhat connected so everything feels cohesive.
You might have a patterned rug, printed pillows, and a textured throw, all working together. It sounds like a lot, but when done in soft, earthy tones, it feels calm instead of overwhelming.
Add personal touches that tell your story
This might be my favorite part. A boho bedroom should feel like you. I love adding pieces that have meaning like travel finds, handmade items, or even family photos.
These little details are what make the space feel special and not like something straight out of a catalog.
Create a cozy reading nook
If you have the space, a small reading corner is such a nice addition. I like using a comfy chair or even floor cushions with a soft throw blanket.
Add a small lamp and maybe a little side table for a cup of tea, and it becomes the perfect spot to unwind at the end of the day.
Keep the vibe a little imperfect
One thing I’ve learned is that boho style actually looks better when it’s not perfect. The slightly undone bed, the casually draped blanket, the mix of textures that don’t quite match. That’s where the charm is.
I try not to stress about everything being just right. The beauty of this style is that it feels effortless, even if you’ve put thought into it.
Incorporate earthy colors with small pops
While I love a neutral base, I also enjoy adding little hints of color. Think terracotta, muted greens, dusty pinks, or warm mustard tones.
These colors bring life into the room without overpowering it. I usually add them through pillows, throws, or small decor pieces.
Use mirrors to reflect light
Mirrors are such an easy way to make a room feel brighter and more open. I love using ones with wood or rattan frames to keep with the boho look.
Leaning a full length mirror against the wall is one of my favorite tricks. It feels relaxed and adds a bit of depth to the space.
Add soft window treatments
Light, airy curtains are perfect for a boho bedroom. I usually go for something sheer or lightly textured that lets natural light filter through.
It keeps the room feeling bright and soft during the day, which I absolutely love.
Include a touch of handmade or DIY
There’s something really special about having handmade pieces in your space. Whether it’s something you made or something you bought from a small artist, it adds personality.
It could be as simple as a hand painted frame, a DIY wall hanging, or even embroidered pillow covers. These little details make the room feel more personal and creative.
Bring in a sense of calm and comfort
At the end of the day, my favorite thing about a boho bedroom is how it feels. It’s not just about how it looks. It’s about creating a space where you can relax, breathe, and feel at home.
I always ask myself, does this space make me want to slow down? If the answer is yes, then I know I’m on the right track.
If you’re thinking about giving your bedroom a boho feel, I would say start small. Add a cozy throw, bring in a plant, switch out your lighting. You don’t have to do everything at once.
Over time, as you find pieces you love, your space will naturally come together. And that’s really the heart of boho style. It grows with you, reflects you, and becomes a place you truly enjoy being in.
And honestly, there’s nothing better than walking into your bedroom at the end of the day and feeling like it wraps you up in warmth and comfort. That’s always the goal for me, and boho design does that so beautifully.
